MTAA Practice Advisor Lindsay Petersten will lead this webinar on the professional and ethical discharge of clients from your practice. Participants will explore practical scenarios illustrating when it is appropriate to discharge a client and when referral to an alternate care provider is more suitable.

The session will also cover best practices for documentation in alignment with the MTAA Standards of Practice, ensuring both professional accountability and client safety.

A portion of the webinar will focus on case scenarios involving challenges with professional boundaries. Discharging a client is sometimes necessary to maintain appropriate therapeutic relationships, and this session will address situations including, but not limited to:

  • Managing inappropriate socialization
  • Responding to difficult or abusive client behavior
  • Other boundary-related concerns commonly encountered in practice
